In case you missed it, we wanted to tell our story on the blog, so it is chronicled in every little corner of the world wide web. So give us a scroll, like, comment, or all three and rehash with us the billion steps it took to get here.
Also, just as a little disclaimer, we are totally aware we have a billion more steps to go. We’re actually so excited to rewrite this in one, two, or five years and see all we’ve done since September 17th, 2021.
Okay so picture this, it’s 2017 and two college girlies decide to plan a trip to Europe. We’ve traveled before, but never done a 5 week trip with little cash all on our end like we were determined to do this time. We break out our budget sheets and start planning out what we want to do, see and explore, just like everyone else who goes on a ~European Adventure~.
We hammer out the details, invite our pals, and board the plane (again, really nothing too unique) in 2018. We post a ton about our trip like most people do, have the absolute best time of our lives, and head home. At this point, still not too interesting.
On August 13th, 2018, I (Niki here), started a blog. I’ve always really liked writing and came back from our trip obsessed with travel, so naturally my first post was all about how we went to Europe with only what we saved from our SMALL college paychecks and how we’re we’re still able to not miss out on anything we wanted to do there!
Around the same time, Tiffany (who is a genius with research and recommendations) began a running list of everywhere we went and things we did right (and wrong) on our trips. People started asking, so we started passing both along.
It was, and very much still is, so wild to see how many people cared about our opinion when it came to traveling. The people wanted to know.
Surprisingly, a ton of people wanted OUR advice on their trips.
Fast forward to 2019. lil Niki here had just graduated college and I was stressed about my whole life’s plan. One day, while I was on Pintrest looking at a ton of $100 workout guides, I had an idea.
What if
I made travel guides set up with everything people ever needed to research and plan and sold them like a workout guide or meal plan?
So on June 2nd, 2019, the idea behind Went There, Loved That, was born.
But, as it usually does, life got busy, I got a big girl job, and this whole idea remained as a one sentence note on my phone. for a WHILE.
ENTER Tiffany: the driving force behind where we are today. In December 2019, at her family’s Christmas breakfast, I told Tiff about this whole dream of mine. Immediately, she signed up. We decided that 2020 would be the year that we build out this business together, her living in NYC and me in LA, and launch it that summer!
…summer of 2020.
….yeah.
Long story not super short, after actively building WTLT for almost 2 years, having the idea for almost 3, and obsessively traveling for almost 5, it’s finally time to put out our vision.
We’ve combined our love for traveling on a budget, amazing food, researching the best spots, finding the best bars and sharing it all and have created
